Information Regarding the Substance
Physical Description:
Phenazepam typically appears as a white or off-white powder or in tablet form (usually 0.5 mg, 1 mg, or 2.5 mg doses). It may also be found as a clear or slightly yellowish liquid when prepared for research or illicit use.
Side Effects:
-
Common: Relaxation, drowsiness, reduced anxiety, and impaired coordination. At higher doses, there may be slurred speech, memory impairment, and an intoxicated-like state similar to alcohol or other benzodiazepines.
-
Severe: Can cause severe respiratory depression, loss of consciousness, coma, and death. Due to its long duration of action, blackouts and amnesia are especially common, leading to risky behavior and accidental overdoses.
