Found in:
Fentanyl
Type/Reason added:
Nitazene
Relative Potency:
N/A
Treatment Options
Supportive Care:
Ensuring a clear airway, providing oxygen, and using mechanical ventilation if needed.
Antidote:
Overdose can be reversed with naloxone, but due to its high potency, multiple doses may be required.
Pharmacokinetics and Dynamics
Metabolism:
The liver metabolizes N-desethyl isotonitazene via cytochrome P450 enzymes, with metabolites excreted in the urine. Because it is an active metabolite, it may prolong opioid effects and contribute to overdose risks.
Drug-Drug Interactions:
Combining it with alcohol, benzodiazepines (Xanax, Valium), or other opioids drastically increases the risk of fatal overdose. CYP enzyme inhibitors may also prolong its effects, leading to greater toxicity.
