Description and Classification
Pyrazolam:
A benzodiazepine derivative that acts as an anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) agent. Unlike many benzodiazepines, it has little to no sedative or muscle-relaxant properties, making it somewhat unique within this class.
Relative Potency
Potency:
Pyrazolam is considered to be a high-potency benzodiazepine, roughly comparable to alprazolam (Xanax) on a per-milligram basis. However, its lack of sedative effects makes it functionally distinct from other benzodiazepines like diazepam (Valium) or clonazepam (Klonopin).
Why It Is Added
Purpose
Medically, pyrazolam would theoretically be used to treat anxiety disorders due to its strong anxiolytic properties. However, it has not been officially approved for therapeutic use in most countries. Illegally or recreationally, it is sometimes used for self-medication of anxiety or for its calming effects, but it lacks the euphoria or sedation that make other benzodiazepines commonly misused.
