N-Desethyl Isotonitazene
Found in:
Fentanyl
Type/Reason added:
Nitazene
Relative Potency:
N/A
Description and Classification
N-Desethyl Isotonitazene:
A synthetic opioid and an active metabolite of isotonitazene, which belongs to the benzimidazole opioid class. These opioids are structurally distinct from fentanyl and morphine but bind strongly to the mu-opioid receptor, producing intense analgesic and euphoric effects.
Relative Potency
Potency:
N-Desethyl isotonitazene is estimated to be significantly more potent than morphine and comparable in strength to other benzimidazole opioids like isotonitazene and etonitazene. Although exact potency data is limited, isotonitazene itself is thought to be 500 times stronger than morphine, and its desethyl metabolite likely retains substantial activity.
Why It Is Added
Purpose
It is commonly mixed with or substituted for fentanyl in counterfeit pills or powders.
