Menitazene
Found in:
Fentanyl
Type/Reason added:
Nitazene
Relative Potency:
10 times stronger than morphine (18)
Treatment Options
Supportive Care:
Airway management and assisted ventilation.
Antidote:
Naloxone can reverse the effects of menitazene, though higher or repeated doses may be needed due to its potency.
Pharmacokinetics and Dynamics
Metabolism:
Menitazene is metabolized primarily in the liver through the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. Its exact metabolic pathways are not well-studied, but it is expected to produce metabolites that are excreted in the urine.
Drug-Drug Interactions:
Menitazene poses a high risk of dangerous interactions, particularly with central nervous system depressants such as alcohol, benzodiazepines, or barbiturates. These combinations significantly increase the risk of fatal respiratory depression. Concurrent use with stimulants like cocaine or methamphetamine can lead to unpredictable cardiovascular effects.
