Relative Potency:

100-1000 times stronger than morphine (18)

Treatment Options

Supportive Care:

Includes airway management, oxygen supplementation, and ventilation in severe cases of respiratory depression.

Antidote:

Naloxone (Narcan), is the antidote for opioid overdose, though higher doses may be required due to etonitazene's potency.

Pharmacokinetics and Dynamics

Metabolism:

Etonitazene is metabolized primarily in the liver through cytochrome P450 enzymes. It undergoes phase I and phase II metabolism, producing inactive metabolites that are excreted via urine.

Drug-Drug Interactions:

Etonitazene interacts dangerously with other substances, especially depressants like alcohol and benzodiazepines, which amplify respiratory depression and increase the risk of fatal overdose. Combining it with stimulants such as cocaine or methamphetamine can cause unpredictable cardiovascular effects like arrhythmias, while mixing with other opioids significantly heightens the risk of overdose and severe respiratory depression.
